Australian wine has gained an international reputation over the last two decades and has exported over 1.4 billion litres of wine in 2006-07, ranking Australia as sixth in a list of the top ten wine producing countries in the world. As the sixth largest country in the world with 68 wine regions, Australia is able to produce almost every type of wine from Shiraz, Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon to Merlot, Semillon, Grenache and Pinot Noir as well as sparkling white and red wine.
